Central Government Extends The Validity Of Environmental Clearances
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change vide Gazette Notification no. S.O. 221(E) has extended the validity of environmental clearances for reducing the burden of the pandemic outbreak and resultant lockdowns. The notification provides that the period from the 1st April 2020 to the 31st March 2021 shall not be considered for the purpose of calculation of the period of validity of Prior Environmental Clearances granted as per notification dated 14 September 2006 in view of the outbreak of Corona Virus (COVID-19) and subsequent lockdowns (total or partial) declared for its control. However, all activities undertaken during this period in respect of the environmental clearance granted shall be treated as valid. Please refer to the notification for details

Odisha State Pollution Control Board vide notification no. 363/IND-II-NOC-Misc-170 has decided for exemption of consent of the Board as under the Air (Prevention and control of pollution) Act, 1981 and Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1971 for extraction or sourcing or borrowing of ordinary earth for the linear projects such as roads, pipeline, etc. Please refer to the notification for more details

Bihar PCB Introduces Auto-Renewal For CTE And CTO
Bihar Pollution Control Board vide notification no. 12 has introduced an auto-renewal system for Consent to Operate (CTO) and Consent To Establish (CTE) under the Air (Prevention and control of pollution) Act,1981 and Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1971. Now, to making the process easier for the entrepreneurs in the state from 1st January 2021, 30 days prior to the expiry of the Consent an option for renewal is granted and as soon as the paid online application is given, the order of consent will be obtained via QR Code (automatically) for operation with the extension of duration. The Governor of Himachal Pradesh vide notification No. Ind.-A(F)13-3/2017 has introduced an online random Central Inspection System covering the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board. The framework will integrate the independent inspection systems in various departments to form a Central Random Online Inspection System, responsible for synchronizing multiple inspections and all inspections will be directed through the Central Random Online Inspection System. The Central inspection framework will be applicable to the following acts: (a) The Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 (b) The Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. Fee Structure Under Biomedical Waste Management Rules 2016 In Odisha
Odisha Pollution Control Board vide Notification no.13112/IND-IV-BW-55(PI) has prescribed the fees for consideration of authorization of units handling biomedical waste in Odisha. The notification extends to health care establishments both bedded and non-bedded, biomedical waste management agencies, research institutions, Veterinary hospitals, Govt Not for profit bedded, non-bedded institutions, etc. The fees prescribed are to be paid one time only and shall be deposited online along with the application form in one go. Reduction Of Deadline To Dispose Applications In Chattisgarh
Chattisgarh State Pollution Control Board vide Notification dated 14th December 2020 has informed that it has decided to reduce the deadline for disposal of applications under Biomedical Waste Management Regulations, 2016, e-Waste Management Rules, 2016, Waste Plastic Rules, 2016 to sixty days as according to the Ease of Doing Business. Haryana State Pollution Control Board vide Endst. No HSPCB/PLG/2020/1820-1847, has ordered to comply with the procedures prescribed in the Order for processing the cases of grant of permissions for fresh sampling and taking closure and legal action against defaulting units including the procedure for dealing with the applications for Consent To Operate (CTO) submitted by non-applicant units for the first time and action taken against such units under Air (Prevention and control of pollution) Act,1981 and Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1971. Retrofitting Of Emission Control Devices In DG Sets In Kerala
The Kerala State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) vide Notification no.PCB/HO/SEE-3/TECH/82/2019 has directed all the industries and establishments operating DG sets of capacity 500 kVA and above, within the jurisdiction of the state of Kerala, to (1) Retrofit all operational DG sets of capacity 500 kVA and above with an Emission Control Device/Equipment having a minimum specified Particulate Matter capturing efficiency of at least 70% tested as per 5 mode D2 cycle, OR (2) Shift to gas-based Generators by employing new gas-based generators or retrofitting the existing DG sets for partial gas usage. GPCB/RP-Gen-24/574513 has informed that all the applications seeking Registration / Renewal under Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 shall be henceforth accepted only through online mode at https://ifp.eujarat.eov.inlDlGlGOV/ and no physical application shall be accepted from the date of issue of this Circular in the state of Gujarat.
